Privacy Policy

Effective: October 1, 2026
Last updated: October 21, 2026

NextSites Inc. (“NextSites,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates NEXT, including WasatchNext at wasatchnext.com, Next Near Me, Next at Home, our mobile applications, and other NEXT websites, applications, products, and services that link to this Privacy Policy (collectively, the “Services”).

This Privacy Policy explains what information we may collect, how we may use and disclose it, and the choices and rights that may be available to you.

The information we collect and the way we use it depend on how you interact with NEXT, the features you use, your settings, your location, and the Services available at the time.

1. Information We May Collect

Information you provide

We may collect information you provide directly to us, including:

  • name, email address, username, and other account information;
  • authentication and account-security information;
  • profile information, photos, biographies, preferences, interests, and other information you choose to provide;
  • saved events, places, businesses, activities, entertainment, plans, itineraries, lists, and other saved content;
  • ratings, reactions, comments, posts, photos, videos, links, reviews, and other user-generated content;
  • direct messages, group messages, and other communications sent through NEXT;
  • information you provide when contacting us, requesting support, reporting content or another user, or communicating with us;
  • information submitted when creating, claiming, verifying, updating, or managing a business, venue, event, or other listing;
  • information submitted in connection with advertising, promotions, partnerships, affiliate programs, or other business services;
  • information provided in connection with subscriptions, purchases, transactions, or paid services; and
  • other information you choose to provide.

Account and social information

Optional recommendation emails

When you save recommendation preferences, we store your description of what you like, reviewed search filters, delivery schedule and timezone, verified recipient address and consent. We also keep selected listing snapshots, delivery status and listing history to show your recommendations and avoid unwanted repeats. A hashed unsubscribe token lets you stop these emails without signing in.

If you ask the model to interpret your preferences, your submitted text is sent to the configured model provider. Scheduled selection uses the finder and does not send your preferences to a model. Our email provider receives the recipient address and message content to deliver your recommendations.

Pause or unsubscribe stops future dispatch after confirmation while retaining your preferences and history. You can delete recommendations data from the recommendations page; this disables delivery and removes its preferences, tokens, snapshots and history from the live recommendation store. Account deletion also removes this data. Previously sent mail and copies held in operational backups or by providers are not recalled by this control. For broader privacy or account-erasure requests, use the contact details below.

What's NEXT suggestions

Where What's NEXT suggestions are switched on, the configured model provider may help choose and describe them. It receives the event or place you are viewing, nearby options from our listings with their travel and arrival times, and the general choices you made for the suggestions: who is coming (on your own, with a partner, with children or with friends), a child age band if you gave one, the kinds of thing you switched on, and a kind you liked. It does not receive your name, email address, account details, exact location or any other identifier. When no model is available, suggestions come from our own ranking and nothing is sent.

If you create an account or use social features, we may collect and process information about:

  • your profile;
  • accounts or people you follow, connect with, invite, block, or interact with;
  • events, places, businesses, plans, or other content you share;
  • groups or conversations in which you participate;
  • interactions with other users;
  • reports, moderation actions, and safety-related activity; and
  • your use of social and community features.

Some information may be visible to other users depending on the feature, your settings, and the choices you make.

Messages and communications

If NEXT provides direct messaging, group messaging, or other communication features, we process the content of those communications and related information as necessary to provide and operate those features.

We may also process communications for purposes such as:

  • security;
  • spam and fraud prevention;
  • abuse detection;
  • content moderation;
  • responding to reports;
  • enforcing our policies;
  • improving our Services;
  • protecting users or others; and
  • complying with applicable law.

Private messages are not intended to be publicly displayed, but they should not be treated as communications that NEXT is technically incapable of accessing or processing.

Location information

Location is an important part of NEXT.

We may collect or process location information including:

  • cities, neighborhoods, addresses, areas, or other locations you search for or select;
  • approximate location derived from information such as your IP address;
  • location associated with an event, venue, business, plan, post, photo, or other content; and
  • precise or specific device location when you choose to enable a feature that uses it and grant the applicable device or browser permission.

When you type an address or place name to find its location, we send what you typed from our servers to the OpenStreetMap Nominatim service to look it up.

Location may be used to provide nearby recommendations, maps, directions, search results, events, places, advertising, promotions, safety functionality, or other location-aware features.

You can generally manage device-location permission through your device, browser, or operating-system settings.

Some laws treat precise geolocation as sensitive personal data. Where applicable law requires additional notice, consent, an opt-out, or another choice for processing such information, we will provide the applicable mechanism.

Usage, device, and technical information

When you use NEXT, we and companies that provide services to us may automatically collect information such as:

  • IP address;
  • browser type;
  • device type;
  • operating system;
  • app version;
  • device and advertising identifiers, in a NEXT mobile app if it collects them (our website does not collect advertising identifiers);
  • language and regional settings;
  • referring and exit pages;
  • pages and screens viewed;
  • searches performed;
  • links, buttons, advertisements, recommendations, or other content selected;
  • events, places, businesses, or content viewed or interacted with;
  • dates and times of activity;
  • session information;
  • application performance;
  • diagnostic information;
  • crash information;
  • network information; and
  • information about how you interact with the Services.

We collect this information through our servers and the analytics services described in Section 7. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, analytics cookies, pixels, or advertising tags to collect it.

Preferences, interests, and inferences

We may use information about your activity to infer preferences or interests.

For example, your searches, saved items, location, viewed events, places, businesses, entertainment selections, social activity, or other interactions may help NEXT determine what recommendations or content may be relevant to you.

Some activities can reveal or support inferences about characteristics that certain laws treat as sensitive, such as health-related interests, religion, sexual orientation, or other sensitive characteristics.

We may process sensitive personal data and sensitive inferences as permitted by applicable law and will provide notices, consent mechanisms, opt-outs, limitations, or other controls where required by applicable law.

Information from other sources

We may obtain information from sources including:

  • event organizers;
  • venues;
  • restaurants and other businesses;
  • publicly available websites and data sources;
  • social media and other online services;
  • business owners and representatives;
  • data providers;
  • authentication providers;
  • advertising partners;
  • affiliate and referral partners;
  • analytics providers;
  • payment processors;
  • fraud-prevention and security providers;
  • marketing partners;
  • other users; and
  • other third parties.

We may combine information received from these sources with information collected through NEXT.

  • carry out other purposes disclosed when information is collected or otherwise permitted by applicable law.

3. Personalization, Recommendations, and Automated Systems

NEXT may use automated systems, algorithms, artificial intelligence, machine learning, human review, or combinations of these methods to operate and improve the Services.

These systems may be used for purposes including:

  • recommendations;
  • search ranking;
  • personalization;
  • event and place discovery;
  • itinerary generation;
  • content classification;
  • matching users with relevant content;
  • advertising and promotional relevance;
  • fraud and abuse prevention;
  • moderation;
  • safety; and
  • product improvement.

We may use information generated through use of NEXT, user feedback, user-generated content, and other information we lawfully possess to develop, test, evaluate, or improve NEXT and its automated systems.

We may also use third-party technology providers, including artificial-intelligence or machine-learning providers, to help provide or improve features.

If we materially change how previously collected personal information is used, including for artificial-intelligence or model-development purposes, we will provide additional notice and obtain consent where required by applicable law.

4. Entertainment Discovery and Third-Party Services

NEXT may help users identify movies, television programs, events, activities, and other entertainment available from third parties.

We may provide information about where content or services are available and links that direct users to third-party services.

For example, NEXT may direct a user to a third-party:

  • streaming platform;
  • ticketing provider;
  • restaurant or reservation service;
  • retailer;
  • event organizer;
  • venue;
  • travel provider; or
  • other merchant or service.

NEXT does not necessarily provide the underlying content, product, reservation, ticket, or service merely because we display information about it or link to it.

We may have commercial, referral, advertising, or affiliate relationships with some third parties.

5. Advertising, Promotions, Affiliate Relationships, and Commercial Content

NEXT may generate revenue through methods including:

  • advertising;
  • sponsored or promoted listings;
  • featured businesses;
  • promoted events;
  • sponsored content;
  • affiliate relationships;
  • referrals;
  • subscriptions;
  • business services; and
  • other commercial arrangements.

We may use information such as your location, activity, searches, interests, interactions, context, device information, or other information to select, personalize, measure, attribute, or evaluate advertising and commercial content where permitted by law.

We may receive compensation when a user:

  • views or interacts with an advertisement;
  • selects a link;
  • visits another service;
  • makes a purchase;
  • subscribes to a service;
  • makes a reservation;
  • buys a ticket; or
  • takes another qualifying action.

We may provide advertisers, businesses, affiliate partners, and other partners with information needed to administer, measure, attribute, secure, or evaluate these arrangements.

Depending on the technology used and the jurisdiction involved, certain advertising or partner disclosures may be considered a “sale,” “sharing,” “targeted advertising,” or a similar regulated activity under applicable privacy law.

Where applicable law gives users a right to opt out of such processing, we will provide a method to exercise that right.

6. How We May Disclose Information

We may disclose personal information to the following categories of recipients.

Service providers and contractors

We may disclose information to companies that help us operate NEXT, including providers of:

  • cloud hosting;
  • databases;
  • content delivery;
  • communications;
  • email;
  • authentication;
  • mapping;
  • search;
  • analytics;
  • artificial intelligence;
  • fraud prevention;
  • security;
  • customer support;
  • moderation;
  • payments;
  • infrastructure;
  • software development; and
  • other business and technical services.

Other users and the public

Information you choose to make public or share through profiles, posts, plans, groups, comments, business pages, reviews, or other social features may be visible to other users or the public.

The audience depends on the feature and any privacy or visibility settings available.

Businesses and organizations

We may disclose information to businesses, venues, event organizers, advertisers, merchants, or other organizations when necessary to:

  • provide a requested feature;
  • facilitate an interaction;
  • administer a business listing;
  • complete a referral;
  • support a promotion;
  • attribute activity;
  • measure performance;
  • investigate fraud or abuse; or
  • otherwise operate the Services.

Advertising, analytics, affiliate, and marketing partners

We may permit advertising, analytics, affiliate, attribution, marketing, or measurement providers to collect or receive information through NEXT.

The analytics providers we use, PostHog and Cloudflare, are described in Section 7. Neither sets cookies on our website, and we do not use advertising, affiliate, or marketing pixels or tags on our website.

Depending on applicable law and the nature of the activity, these disclosures may be subject to privacy rights or opt-out mechanisms.

Payment processors and transaction providers

Payments may be processed by third-party payment providers.

We may receive information such as:

  • payment status;
  • transaction amount;
  • subscription status;
  • transaction identifiers; or
  • limited billing information.

We do not necessarily receive or store complete payment-card information when it is handled directly by a payment processor.

Legal, security, and safety purposes

We may disclose information when we reasonably believe doing so is necessary to:

  • comply with applicable law;
  • respond to subpoenas, court orders, warrants, or other lawful process;
  • respond to governmental or regulatory requests;
  • enforce agreements or policies;
  • investigate suspected fraud, abuse, security incidents, or unlawful conduct;
  • protect the safety of users or others;
  • protect our rights or property; or
  • establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

Corporate transactions

Information may be disclosed, transferred, or evaluated as part of an actual or proposed:

  • merger;
  • acquisition;
  • investment;
  • financing;
  • reorganization;
  • bankruptcy;
  • sale of assets;
  • corporate restructuring; or
  • similar transaction.

7. Cookies and Similar Technologies

NEXT does not use advertising or tracking cookies or analytics cookies, and our website does not use advertising pixels or tags. We do not use Google Analytics or any other Google tag.

Cookies we set

Our website sets only the following cookies. Each is a first-party cookie that is strictly necessary for something you ask for, is sent only to our website, and cannot be read by the scripts on our pages.

  • __Secure-better-auth.session_token: keeps you signed in. Set when you sign in, with Google or with your email and password; lasts 7 days.
  • __Secure-better-auth.dont_remember: records that you asked not to stay signed in, so that your sign-in ends when you close your browser. Set only when an email-and-password sign-in asks not to be remembered (the sign-in form on this site does not ask this); lasts until you close your browser.
  • __Secure-better-auth.state: protects the sign-in from being forged. Set while you are signing in with Google; lasts 5 minutes.
  • flash: holds what you typed into a form you sent, together with the result, such as an error message, until the next page loads. Set only when you send a form in a browser with JavaScript turned off; lasts until that next page is shown, when it is deleted.

Information stored in your browser

Some features remember your choices in your browser’s local storage, on your device. Each item stays there until you remove it, change the choice, or clear your browser’s site data. We do not store anything else in your browser.

  • wn.saved.v1: the events, places and plans you save.
  • wn.plan-snapshots.v1: a copy of each plan you save, so it opens as you saved it.
  • wn.location.v1: a location you chose, so pages can show what is near it.
  • wn.optout.v1: your choice not to have your searches and activity recorded for our own learning (your browser's Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal does the same without it).
  • wn.stayHome.services: the streaming services you picked on Stay Home.

Analytics

We use PostHog (PostHog Cloud, United States) to understand how our website is used. PostHog sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser: the random identifier it uses is kept only in the open page’s memory and is gone when you reload or close the page. PostHog is not loaded at all in a browser that sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal.

PostHog receives the following events:

  • a page was shown (which page, and where you arrived from, are described below);
  • a search ran: how many characters it was, whether it worked, and how many events and places came back, never the words;
  • an event page was opened, and which event;
  • a place page was opened, and which place;
  • the save button was pressed on an event or a place, and which event or place;
  • an event or a place was removed from your saved list, and which one;
  • the map page was opened;
  • the page for claiming a business listing was opened, and whether you were signed in;
  • a business listing was claimed successfully;
  • a link to an event’s or a place’s own website was clicked: that website’s name, which event or place it belongs to, and which kind of page the link was on;
  • a plan was shown: which places it included, and how many stops it had;
  • a plan was saved to your list: which places it included, and how many stops it had.

With each event, PostHog receives the page’s address without anything after “?” or “#”, the website you came from (its name only), your browser and its version, operating system, device type, language, time zone, and screen and window size. We remove search words and page titles before an event is sent. PostHog’s servers also receive the IP address each request comes from.

Cloudflare, which delivers our website, adds its Web Analytics script to our pages. It sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. For each page you load, it sends Cloudflare the page’s address without anything after “?”; the address of the page you came from, which is the previous NEXT page when you move between our pages; your browser type and version; your operating system; and measurements of how the page loaded and performed, such as how long it took to load and display, how much its layout shifted while loading, and how quickly it responded when you clicked or typed. It does not check for Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signals.

Searches and activity on NEXT

Our own servers count page views, place and event views, and clicks that leave NEXT. When you search on NEXT we also keep what you searched for, the filters you chose, the results shown, and which result you opened from the search. We do not store your IP address or your browser details with these records. Each record carries a short code made on our server from your connection details and a secret that is replaced frequently (at least every day); the code is not designed to link one day to another, but the words you search for and your other activity can still identify or connect records. Search records are deleted after 42 days. Counts, and search terms that many different people used on several days, are kept longer.

If you have turned on a privacy choice described in Section 8 (a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal from your browser, the choice on this site on your browser, or the choice in your account), we do not keep what you searched for or anything else about that search, and nothing is recorded for our own learning. Page view, place view and click totals are counts that carry no code for you and do not check these signals. A choice set on this site is passed along with the requests the site makes after the page has loaded; the first page you open in a visit is a plain page request that cannot carry it, so for that request your browser's Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, or being signed in with the account choice turned on, is what applies.

Our own servers also count page views without using cookies.

Other websites

Photos of events and places are loaded directly from the website that published them. That website receives your IP address and browser information when your browser loads the photo, but not the address of the NEXT page you are on, and it may set its own cookies, which we do not control. Signing in with Google and paying through our payment processor take place on those companies’ own websites, under their own cookies and privacy policies.

The controls available to you depend on your device, browser, operating system, account settings, and applicable law.

8. Do Not Track and Opt-Out Preference Signals

Some browsers provide a “Do Not Track” or “DNT” setting.

There is not a universally accepted standard governing how websites should respond to legacy DNT signals. NEXT does not load its PostHog analytics in a browser that sends a DNT signal or a Global Privacy Control signal. Cloudflare’s page-load measurement, described in Section 7, does not check for these signals.

Our own servers do check these signals for searches and learning records. When your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, or you have turned on the choice on this site or in your account, we keep no search words and no learning record for that request, create no browser identifier, and leave your account out of learning exports. These choices apply from the time you set them; they do not remove search records already made under a daily code, which carry nothing that lets us find them and are removed after 42 days. Our page view, place view and click totals are counts and do not check these signals.

We do not place advertising or tracking cookies on NEXT, and we do not ask any third party to. Websites whose photos appear on NEXT may set their own cookies, including cookies that can recognize your browser, when your browser loads a photo from them, as described in Section 7.

Some jurisdictions recognize browser- or device-based privacy signals, such as the Global Privacy Control (GPC) or other legally recognized opt-out preference signals.

Where applicable law requires NEXT to recognize such a signal, we will process a qualifying signal as an applicable opt-out request for the browser or device from which the signal is received.

9. Sensitive Personal Information

Depending on how you use NEXT, information we process may include information that applicable law defines as sensitive personal information or sensitive data.

Examples may include:

  • precise geolocation;
  • information revealing or supporting inferences regarding health;
  • religious beliefs;
  • sexual orientation;
  • racial or ethnic origin; or
  • other legally protected characteristics.

NEXT may also infer interests from your searches, saved content, viewed places, events, social interactions, and other activity.

For example, interaction with a particular venue, religious event, health-related location, community organization, or nightlife category could potentially support an inference about an individual.

We process sensitive personal information only as permitted by applicable law.

Where applicable law requires consent, notice, an opportunity to opt out, a right to limit processing, or another control, we will provide the applicable mechanism.

10. Data Retention

We retain information for periods that may vary based on:

  • the type of information;
  • how it is used;
  • whether you maintain an account;
  • operational needs;
  • security requirements;
  • legal requirements;
  • contractual obligations;
  • dispute resolution;
  • fraud prevention;
  • enforcement needs; and
  • other legitimate business purposes.

We may retain some information after an account is closed or information is deleted where permitted or required by law.

For example, information may remain temporarily in backups or may be retained for:

  • security;
  • fraud prevention;
  • legal compliance;
  • accounting;
  • transaction records;
  • dispute resolution;
  • enforcement; or
  • protection of legal rights.

Some periods are fixed. What you search for on NEXT is deleted after 42 days. Backups hold deleted information until they expire. We may also aggregate, deidentify, or anonymize information and retain the resulting information where permitted by law.

11. Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information appropriate to the nature of the information and our operations.

No website, application, database, network, transmission method, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

You are responsible for taking reasonable steps to protect your account credentials and devices.

12. Your Choices

Depending on the features you use, you may be able to:

  • update account information;
  • change profile information;
  • control certain profile visibility settings;
  • manage social connections;
  • block users;
  • change notification preferences;
  • remove saved content;
  • delete certain content;
  • change device location permissions;
  • control cookies or similar technologies through your browser or device; and
  • use privacy choices or opt-out mechanisms that we make available.

Disabling certain permissions or processing may affect the functionality of some NEXT features.

Privacy choices

You can turn off the recording of your searches and activity for our own learning here, on this browser, and, if you are signed in, for your account.

What happens when you delete

When you delete your account, we delete your saved places, plans, Go history, journeys, your own events, and your recommendations data. This does not reach: search records made under a daily code before you asked (nothing we keep can find them; they are deleted after 42 days); records made before a browser identifier existed or while a privacy choice was on; records kept under an identifier you removed by clearing your browser's data before asking us; other people who use the same browser; copies in backups, which remain until the backup expires; or information held by PostHog, Cloudflare, or other companies named in this policy, which have their own policies. If records were ever used to train a model, removing a person's records from the already-trained model is not something we can do.

13. Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live and which privacy laws apply to NextSites, you may have rights concerning your personal information.

These rights may include the right to:

  • know or access personal information;
  • obtain information about how personal information is used or disclosed;
  • correct inaccurate personal information;
  • delete certain personal information;
  • obtain a portable copy of certain personal information;
  • opt out of certain sales of personal information;
  • opt out of certain sharing of personal information;
  • opt out of targeted advertising;
  • limit certain uses of sensitive personal information;
  • withdraw consent where processing is based on consent; and
  • appeal certain decisions regarding a privacy request.

These rights may be subject to:

  • eligibility requirements;
  • legal thresholds;
  • exceptions;
  • verification requirements; and
  • other limitations under applicable law.

Verifying requests

We may request information reasonably necessary to verify that you are the person associated with the information or account involved in a request.

The information required for verification will depend on the nature and sensitivity of the request.

We may decline or limit a request where permitted by law if we cannot reasonably verify the request or if an exception applies.

Authorized agents may submit requests where permitted by applicable law, subject to appropriate verification.

Submitting a request

Privacy requests may be submitted through privacy controls we make available within NEXT or by contacting us at:

[email protected]

If applicable law requires an additional request method, we will make that method available.

14. Children and Teens

NEXT is a general-audience service.

Accounts and interactive features such as social networking and messaging are not intended for children under 13.

If you are under 13, you should not create a NEXT account or provide personal information directly to NEXT through account, social, messaging, or other interactive features.

Public event, place, restaurant, and other informational pages may be viewable without creating an account.

If we learn that we have collected personal information directly from a child under 13 in circumstances requiring parental consent and no applicable exception applies, we may take steps including:

  • deleting the information;
  • restricting or disabling the account;
  • limiting features; or
  • taking other action required by law.

Parents or guardians who believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to NEXT may contact us at [email protected].

Additional requirements or protections may apply to teen users depending on jurisdiction and the features involved.

15. Third-Party Websites and Services

NEXT may link to, integrate with, or direct users to third-party:

  • streaming services;
  • ticket providers;
  • restaurants;
  • reservation platforms;
  • retailers;
  • social networks;
  • merchants;
  • event organizers;
  • travel providers;
  • websites;
  • applications; and
  • other services.

Those third parties operate under their own terms, privacy policies, and data practices.

NEXT is not responsible for a third party’s privacy practices merely because NEXT links to or interacts with that service.

You should review the applicable third party’s privacy policy before providing information to it.

16. Business Customers and Websites We Operate for Others

NextSites may provide website design, development, hosting, maintenance, advertising, marketing, or related services to businesses and organizations.

This Privacy Policy governs personal information for which NextSites determines the purposes and means of processing in connection with NEXT.

It may not govern information that NextSites processes solely on behalf of a business customer as that customer’s service provider, processor, contractor, or similar role.

When we process personal information solely on behalf of a business customer, that processing may instead be governed by:

  • our agreement with that customer;
  • a data-processing agreement or similar agreement;
  • the customer’s privacy policy; and
  • applicable law.

If you interact with a website or service operated for one of our business customers, that customer’s privacy policy may apply to the information collected through that service.

17. International Users

NEXT is operated from the United States.

If you access the Services from outside the United States, information may be processed or stored in the United States or other countries where we or our service providers operate.

Those jurisdictions may have privacy laws that differ from the laws where you live.

Where applicable law requires specific safeguards or transfer mechanisms, we will use mechanisms appropriate to the processing involved.

18. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as:

  • NEXT changes;
  • new features are introduced;
  • our technology changes;
  • our business practices change;
  • vendors or partners change; or
  • legal requirements change.

When we update the policy, we will change the “Last updated” date.

We may provide additional notice of material changes through the Services, by email, or through another appropriate method.

If a material change would apply a materially different use or disclosure practice to personal information collected under an earlier privacy commitment, we will provide notice and obtain consent where required by applicable law.
